PreTRACT

Imaging Muscle Fibres

Overview
PreTRACT is novel image analysis system uses Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Imaging technology to generate muscle fibre representations and provide predictive metrics of early signs of injury that could lead to muscle / ligament tears.
How It Works
PreTRACT generates reliable and reproducible representations of tracts in a clinically feasible time-frame. Advanced image processing algorithms provide: - Ability to deal with ambiguous image data and fibre tracts. - Tolerance to noise in images. - Connectivity metrics that quantify the likelihood of tears. - Real-time tract generation, registration and comparison post image reconstruction. PreTRACT has an intuitive user interface that: - Requires minimal interaction for the novice user - Allows an experienced user to display tracts associated with key anatomical muscle and ligament groups. - Provides automatic 3D anatomical segmentation and comparison. - Guided querying of tracts through filtering, streamlining and staining to correctly interpret defined pathways. Interactively colour-coded calculated pathways to quantitatively assess the reliability of projected tracts - PreTRACT can load DICOM and manufacturer dependent DTI data file formats.
Benefits
PreTRACT is a standalone software tool specifically developed in collaboration with consultant muskulo-skeletal radiologists and physiotherapists to provide a unique tool to comparatively assess muscle and ligament degradation allowing for earlier intervention before injury occurs. Athletes that incur a tear typically require an eight-week recovery period. PreTRACT can detect early signs of musculoskeletal injury. Detection and treatment of early signs of an impending injury, reduces recuperation for elite athletes to two-weeks.
